If you don't use it, you lose it
You have no idea how tired my human is. She's done two five hour shifts at the 'Pool Club' in the last two days (& is working 9-2 tomorrow) and she's totally, utterly & completely exhausted. She worked until 7pm this evening, took me out, fed me and has now poured herself a glass of wine. She's going to have ham & mushroom pasta for tea but even putting some pasta into a pan seems like too much effort. The wine is going down very nicely though!!!
Such a difference from 20 years ago, when she was a hotel manager and a normal working week was 60-80 hours. She'd work six days a week, usually doing split shifts – 8am-2pm and then 6pm-midnight. At the time it was her life. Looking back; she didn't have a life. Lol!
But..................... the saying, 'If you don't use it, you lose it', really is true. Apart from the odd shift here and there at the 'Pool Club' in the summer, my human hasn't worked since April. She's only 64 years old. She's not an OAP yet!!! I guess she's going to have to rectify that? Working more, not being an OAP. Lol!!!!
Moving swiftly on............................ today we had a plan......................
The plan was................... I'd go into the field first thing for toileting purposes. That part of the plan happened. Except, whoever said, 'The camera never lies', has obviously never taken a photo with an iphone. This photo was taken when it was pitch black and pouring with rain. Does it look like it was pitch black and pouring with rain to you? Obviously the camera does lie!
My big walk of the day was going to be walking to our friend, Charlotte's house, where we had left the car last night. Even though working 5 hours a day exhausts my human, she still managed to go out socialising last night. Charlotte lives in the middle of nowhere, so to get to her house we would have had to walk through loads of muddy fields and then along the cow path.
Long story, short. Charlotte came to get Ann and I had to stay 'home alone' while she went to get the car. And then the rain had stopped, so I had a very lovely play down on the beach. I like it in St Ives because I meet the same friendly little doggies every day and we always have a lovely play chasing each other.
That's pretty much been our day. It never ceases to amaze my human how different life is in a small rural community, compared to life in a large city.
As for me................... I'm just a gorgeous little Collie pup. I'm happy to be wherever my human is. As long as I get lovely walks, as long as I'm fed, as long as I know that if I get left home alone, my human will come back, as long as I know that my human loves me, as long as I feel safe and secure, then I'm happy.
........................What more could a gorgeous little Collie pup want???
