Goodbye Venice

Jenny did a lot of coughing during the night so neither of us slept well. I have a sore throat.

We packed last night so were ready far too early. Breakfast didn’t open till 7.30 so we just had time to make up a couple of cheese rolls to take away.

It was a beautiful but cold morning. Our Alilaguna was only a few minutes walk from the hotel. It went via Arsenale to Murano and eventually over an hour from boarding we reached the airport. It all went smoothly and we arrived in Edinburgh at 1.15. There were long queues for passport control but the bags came quickly. I texted Mr C who was lurking somewhere and he picked us up -£5 - apparently had we researched we’d have found a place about 10 minutes walk away that was free.

We took Jenny home which added 1.5 hours to the journey so we didn’t get back home ourselves till 6pm. She texted so say she’d got a negative Covid test result which is a relief. I’ll test tomorrow. Hopefully we have mere colds.

It’ll be an early night - it’s been a wonderful trip but busy with not much sleep.

Thank you for all your kind comments, stars and hearts. We’ve had a wonderful time - the trip of a lifetime.
