Afternoon Tea At Harrods

This afternoon we enjoyed the treat Kate, Joel & Sophie bought for my 70th birthday: a champagne tea for two at Harrods.

When we first met 50 years ago, Tess was working for Thomas Cook travel agents in Harrods. I was still at University but I used to get holiday jobs there, initially in the Accounts Department but then on the shop floor inthe Wines & Spirits Department, so it brought back happy memories of those early days.

The tea was very good, the surroundings elegant and the service friendly and efficient as you'd expect. We couldn't manage it all and had to bring the cakes back to the hotel in a very posh Harrods doggy bag!

This morning we visited the Victoria and Albert Museum where we particularly enjoyed the Photography Centre and a small exhibition of paintings by Constable and Turner
