The other church
The village church of Saint Saturnin is visible in many of my blips and sits at the top of the village in its picture postcard location. The other church is the English Anglican church of Saint Georges which I help to run. It was built in 1911 by public subscription including donations from Princess Beatrice, the daughter of Queen Victoria, and Rudyard Kipling. At that time the village was a popular health spa and watering hole for the well-off English. I was there this afternoon after receiving the gift of a printer which is going to be very useful. It means now that whoever is taking a service can produce a master sheet of the readings and the newsletter and just run it off in the vestry. Tennis this morning was England versus the Rest of the World; our opponents were French and Dutch. We won in two sets. I then played James a few tiebreaks but by that time we were both getting pretty tired in the heat.
