Asparagus

In contrast to the lushness of yesterday this looks a bit dry and sandy but all over this field are thousands of spears of asparagus and in the next field the silage has been baled.  This was from my walk down to get the papers.  My back was a bit battered from Pilates yesterday, which was frustrating as it was a big gardening day.   I pushed myself through it and every so often lay on the rug in the sun and stretched.  Got a lot done despite everything. Nice spending a day at home.

I made asparagus soup for lunch - one of my favourite asparagus recipes. Made from asparagus bought at the village shop and grown here.  Plus a few picked up broken spears that had been discarded in the field.  Gleaning.

Watched the BAFTAs over dinner - pleased with the wins for Bad Sisters but generally the standard was high this year so lots of good stuff on display.
