Diary of an Edinburgher

By LadyMarchmont

Diet imminent!

A very peaceful night, and quite a restrained breakfast (just poached eggs on toast) before checking out and having a wee walk around the village green. This one was huge, with an impressive monument to Dr John Leydon (a local), a rugby pitch, a kids’ playground, and a brand new pétanque pitch, so new it was still roped off, but ready for the Coronation festivities.

The village had three pubs, a post office/shop, and a well stocked library in the old telephone box. The locals were friendly, everybody calling out ‘Good Morning’ even two chaps who whizzed by on their bikes. Murray decided he’d like to live here.

We then set off back home. The others had booked in for Sunday lunch at the pub, but we (sensibly) declined. We suggested they go and visit the Great Tapestry of Scotland in Galashiels, not far away. We spent hours there last year.

We called in at the Big garden Centre on the outskirts of town, and quickly got some plants for the front garden. A wee rest, JR is still full of the cold, and now has a sore throat and is losing her voice. She’s done another Covid test.

Then we popped down to Elizabeth’s to have tea a three course meal with her.

Oh - and to pick up our boy, though I think he’d rather stay there…

PS. This was for sale in Melrose… Tempting… (Extra)
