A Tribute
Today we said good-bye to an admirable man. We had to be at church by 9:15 in case hubby had to stand in as pall bearer. As it turned out at the last moment, that wasn’t necessary. Taylor came from a family who has God at the center of its life. He was one of the few in his family who wasn’t a minister or married to one. And as the presiding minister (his nephew) said, Taylor did not have to preach from the pulpit about Jesus. He lived his life according to a well known quote: “Preach the Gospel at all times, and if necessary, use words.” What a testimony. Folks from the church prepared a delicious repast allowing for a time of fellowship with family and friends. Hubby’s brother was unable to come from Rochester, NY; his wife had recently had a medical procedure requiring his care. We went back to Taylor and Carol’s home and spent the rest of the day with the siblings recalling memories from their younger days. We went through photos of our times together; gosh we were young not too long ago. So glad we were there. We are blessed to be able to pick up at a moment’s notice and head across the country to be with family. Wishing you the same freedom. Thanks for the visit. Stay safe and healthy. “To the outside world, we all grow old. But not to brothers and sisters. We know each other as we always were, we know each other’s hearts, we share private family jokes. We remember family feuds and secrets, family griefs and joys.” – Clara Ortega
