Busy Day

Last Saturday in October is the First Poppy Laying, always a moving ceremony, more so since it moved to the new commemoration stone next to the War Memorial in Kimberley Park.
In the lead up to it this week in addition to the RNA Poppy Cross I have prepared the seven family crosses that are laid each year, three grandfathers, a great uncle, two fathers and a brother-in-law.
All served, all are remembered.

Following the service, at which I was fortunate enough to be asked to read the exhortation, I had a coffee and catch up with my good friend and ex Coldstream Guardsman Steve before heading home to Paddy who was home alone.

A couple of hours at the rugby club cooking Spanish Chicken for fifty with Paddy’s help.

Home again and when Mrs S arrived home from work I headed out to ‘Pickle Night’ at Redruth & Camborne RNA. One small tot of rum, six J2O’s and I was home by eleven.
Another busy day.
