Cyanide mountain and lava
The title is a bit of an exaggeration! The main blip is of the piles of quince seeds I extracted from the pulp which was drained for the jelly. The seeds contain nitriles which in the stomach can produce hydrogen cyanide. They are poisonous only if ingested in large quantities. So an exaggeration based on some truth!
The lava reference is to the bubbling paste and sugar mix for the membrillo, a quince paste which goes very well with cheese. When bringing it to the boil it glugs, burps and whistles and emits steam: see extra. Once cooled and set it can be kept in the fridge for weeks - or frozen.
This morning was a joint church service with neighbouring churches. The full church led to a great sound when singing. We then had a soup, bread and cheese lunch to raise funds for Christian Aid, especially for the Horn of Africa which is increasingly featuring on the news.
