RIP

The day started well then I received a phone call which stunned us all.

Our neighbour of 33 years passed away overnight. His family moved in next door a month after we did. His birthday was 13 days before mine (from the same year). I worked alongside one of his brothers. Our families grew up together and while we were not in and out of each other’s houses all the time they were great neighbours to have. Sadly his wife died a few years ago from cancer.

While he had not been well for just under a year he usually recovered well but an infection came on suddenly yesterday and last night he was hospitalised. It was seemingly too much and despite every best effort he passed away.

It has all been so sudden and shocking for the family. Before the phone call with the news I’d been texting his daughter to offer help as we’d assumed he would be recovering.

I had planned a different photo for today but this handkerchief seemed apt.
