slate!

Slate is always the first thing that comes to my mind whenever I come down to the Lakes. That and the smell of log fires that linger in the air. It really is a splendidly beautiful part of the world.
We took a wander down to Bowness for a wee picnic today. Was a bit chilly but we  Gotta say that although sceptical about a Friday to Friday holiday but it was marvellous waking up in Windermere this morning. I did need to take an extra day away from the coalface but hey means I'll have this weekend and next free. 
Thinking about a wee early morning run tomorrow. I cut out a cycle route from a magazine which looks absolutely perfect. Starting out at Hawkshead and making a loop round through Grizedale forrest. Will be the first time that I've run in a foreign country. Should be in the region of 10 miles and it looks pretty scenic.
