The Pier Arts Centre, Stromness

It was noticeably colder this morning for the daily dook. There were about 8 of us including three Orkney Polar Bears to augment the Stromness Singing Selkies. Despite some heavy showers having blown in before 9am we actually managed the swim in the dry.

After warming up I had a coffee in Julia’s Shed before sitting in the Library With the Vew to read the Metro on my IPad.

There was a circular walk later beneath Brinkies Brae with a cold northerly wind reminding me of autumn champing at the bit ( you can see I have been watching too may ceremonial horses lately!

Although the pomp and circumstance is now concentrated in London and is wonderful to behold, I can’t help thinking the Queen would have loved the Scottish farewell, which began with the Estate gillies carrying her coffin out of Balmoral to the waiting hearse.
