I get Knocked Down, But I get up again
Apart from the meeting with Wither's Woman... there was another special reason for this trip.
Tooli bought us for Christmas, a Wine Tour, in Kent, along with a two night stay in a hotel.
We arrived in our hotel last night, got parked, had a wee drink round the back. Were enthralled to realise that yes, this hotel was also from 1350 and had stairs which were not for the disabled among us. And also employed the cheeky bunch of gits I have ever come across. Amusing though they were.
Wine Tours of Kent picked us up at 1030, and took us to our first winery. Wayfayrer Wines. A Grandad had an idea for retirement, and now his two daughters and son run around their acres of vines sorting them out for him.
In extra's you will see Si and I at 11 Am, commencing out first taste of the day. Before it got messy.
After hearing about the history and the making of the wine, and tasting 5 wines, we were very happy. So happy we spent far too much money on 2 bottles of wine. I have hidden them and will only open them in case of dire emergency (tonight might be it).
We then were driven to lunch, and we dined at a beautiful little village pub, next to the village green, which was bedecked in Crochet Flowers. Just my type of place.
Ploughmans to fill our bellies up. (And a pint to wash it down).
Next Winery.... Slightly bigger, more fancy dan, older vines, very beautiful. We were sat in a herb garden, (see extra), handed four bottles for tasting and left to our own devices (See extra).
An hour later, we were headed for the last winery, and were very merry. This place was MASSIVE. Turned out they owned the hotel we were staying in too.
Our Flytes of Wine were all mixed up, so we spent the first fifteen minutes trying to (a) match our drinks together and (b) work out which was which from the tasting sheet.
The sun was shining, we were getting roasted, and drunk, and it was glorious.
We had a little skip through the vines, and examined our new favourite grape, Baccus. (dang I have a dead one in my bag, I just remembered).
Then the lovely Sarah came and picked us up and we headed to the car. She dropped us off and we decide to head to The Auld Borough for Tapas, which we ate exceptionally fast, and then headed off to a drunking sleep, (after negotiating the horrific stairs).
Good Day. Thanking you Tooli
