Training Time!
Time to get a bit more serious with my bike training and crank it up a notch. My bike buddy has this book and while we have been out riding, he has been giving me loads of extracts so I thought that I would get myself a copy. Had a bit of dilemma whether to go for the Kindle version or the old fashioned processed tree version. As you can see, I opted for the paper version. Novels are fine on the Kindle but I do think textbooks that you will go back to time and time again really need to be non digital.
What an amazing couple of classes I had at the gym this morning. Started off with a 0615 Body Pump class with the awesome #teamEMC (Early Morning Crew). I have been working towards putting my squat weights up to 15Kg a side for a couple of months now and had been doing 13.5Kg for the last few weeks so decided this morning to take the plunge. My running wingman told me that weights are a bit of a mind game and he was definitely right. Not saying it was easy but it definitely wasn't as hard as I had made it in my mind.
Starting to get the hang of the new RPM release as well. This was the first ride out where I felt I did it real justice. The interval track is definitely the stand out one for me but beginning to appreciate the speed track too. It has 3 equal rounds (not sure of time you are sprinting for, around 45 seconds perhaps) and 1 round at 75 seconds. I think that this is going to be a great track to see small improvements week on week. This morning for the last round, I turned up the resistance by half a turn from working load. Next time I ride it out, I will do this on rounds 3 and 4 etc. and eventually I will hopefully establish a new working load. Seeing real improvements in my seated power climbs as well. Think that this is from the time I am spending out on the bike. I notice that I am in the saddle longer than my riding companions. Used to hate seated climbs but seem to have found a wee bit extra power from somewhere.
