Diary of an Edinburgher

Vigorous Exercise

Denise came to take Archie out, while JR went off to the gym, and I did a few chores and - wait for it - got the exercise bike out of the cupboard. Not only did I get it out, I did my 10 minute vigorous exercise regime. (HIIT) Twice.

In the afternoon JR and Archie walked to vet for the little recurring problem he doesn’t like to talk about, and I got my grabber, and a big black bag, and went and picked up rubbish spread far and wide around one of the bins on the next street. We’d passed it in the morning. Seagulls had ripped the bags and there was rotting food waste and goodness knows what all over the place.

I filled the bag and picked up most of the loose stuff, but my hand got really sore squeezing the grabber all the time. I must get a decent one. I put the bag at another different bin which had been cleaned up and had piles of more substantial looking bags around it. The bin strike is over (for a week) but I think the whole crew are busy clearing up the town centre.

Archie and JR had a walk around the King’s Buildings campus. There were a couple of Paolozzi statues in the extensive grounds, so Archie admired them. He’s famous for his robot-like fantastical figures, but he’s very good at feet. (Extra)

The long-awaited verdict that a man (Chris Dawson) has been found guilty of murdering his wife in 1982 in Sydney is news today. He is the subject of the famous. ‘Teacher’s Pet’ podcast, which tells the story. Now he needs to tell her family where he buried her body. Why he wasn’t charged with her murder in the first trial is a travesty. Worth listening to.
