Diary of an Edinburgher

Pitlochry!

Dropped Archie off at Elizabeth's about 9.30am.  JR went to the local gym first (can't miss that!). A sunny drive up the road. We stopped in Dunkeld for a coffee and a scone. And what a revelation that was! It's become quite a wee foodie destination. Just about every shop along the Main Street was a cafe, all selling fab looking loaves of bread and scones and big sandwiches. In fact just about everybody was walking along with a brown paper carrier bag, having been in one of the shops. We chose one, eventually, and had a good coffee and delicious scones. Edinburgh prices though...

Onwards to our destination, Pitlochry. We parked in the hotel/pub carpark, and set off to walk round Loch Faskally, which has a convenient cafe half way round. We walked around it many years ago, with Archie. And I remember that I was fair puggled then, and the cafe was shut, so I quite surprised myself by suggesting it!

We've stayed in the pub by the river many times, and been to the nearby theatre - one time we left the owners to keep an eye on Archie (they're very dog friendly here - TWO resident French Bullodgs welcome everybody).

They weren't serving meals outside, which they usually do, so my idea of a late lunch/early dinner by the river did not eventuate - instead, I had a snooze, and JR got in a few more steps by walking to the town and back.

After an early dinner, we dandered up the hill to the Festival Theatre. It's a wonderful building and an excellent asset for the town/area.

Later (10.43pm). Just back down the hill in the dark. What a marvellous production! I knew nothing about the play - A Streetcar Named Desire - but the sets and the acting was very good, especially the lead actress, Kirsty Stuart as Blanche duBois - was outstanding. Off to read the reviews, which you're really supposed to read before you book a show.

What a great day we had! (11,468 steps)
