Memories
It is impossible to forget the birthdays of loved ones even after they have gone.
Today would have been HL’s birthday. The last one we celebrated was 4 years ago when he was so ill with pancreatic cancer that we stayed at home but generally before then we would have celebrated by putting on our glad rags and sallying forth to some hostelry to eat and raise a glass to our continuing good health. Since the good health failed him 3 months after that last birthday, I celebrated his birthday with a blueberry bun in the company of a friend who remembered this was his special day and who travelled to Edinburgh today.
But first of all it was a dip in the sea with Sue, now returned from Devon. How grateful I am to have her company and a lift to the beach. It took all of 12 minutes from pick up to sand this morning instead of 50 minutes if I have to get a bus. We had 25 minutes in the sea before we got robed up and I came home to a hot shower …..and all before 9 am.
It was a wonderful way to start this day of happy memories.
