Celestial Birthday

There was a lovely birthday message from a family member on what would have been His Lordship’s 90th birthday. In other times there would have been a huge celebration but it was just enough for daughter#1 and me to visit Stobo Castle to mark the day. He would have approved.
Initially we went for a coffee prior to spending time in Peebles but it was so comfortable sitting in the atrium with our coffees that we decided to linger and stay to have lunch at Stobo too.

We missed the worst of the rain and managed a  comprehensive walk round the Japanese Gardens and a long chat with one of the castle’s gardeners before heading back into Edinburgh .

The timing was perfect for the TGIF drinks with the neighbours when we raised a glass to HL’s memory
What could have been a sad day has turned out to be a good day and so comforting for me to know that people still remember HL with fondness.
