Ivy-leaved Toadflax

Pretty Little Immigrant
Sweet little ancient plant,
rooted in stone walls and cracks,
flowers like tiny snap-dragons,
the ivy-leaved toadflax.
It’s been said it came from Italy,
hundreds of years ago,
its seeds embedded in statues
of marble, began to grow.
The tiny leaves are edible - a bit like water cress.
Yesterday’s poem about our Blip meet, materialised in the car on the way up to Airdrie.

Blipfoto Meet
We’ve seen each other’s houses,
seen the towns, the sea, the hills,
we’ve looked inside each other’s rooms,
seen ornaments on windowsills,
shared our thoughts and photographs,
ranted, put the world to rights,
shown each other our families,
our creations and other delights.
It’s one thing being friends on-line
But quite another meeting face to face,
hugging, hearing the voices for the first time,
having trust in our judgement in the first place.
We’re in Airdrie now and it’s lovely to see everyone - especially the girls but we are exhausted!
Goodnight :-)X
