Spring is asparagus season
Check out these gorgeous greens!
Subways, planes, and buses later I have made it back to Ann Arbor from New York. Staying at my friend Heather's place for a few days before heading north. Its nice to be back in my old town but finally the nostalgia and novelty returning to America is wearing off. It is a bit strange being back in my old town now, nostalgic memories of a recent past but without a future. The house and most of my old friends moved on...such is graduate school I suppose. And anyways, it dawns on me recently that I haven't stayed over two weeks in any one place now for almost four months myself! On the move...A little stability in one place will be a good thing and so I'm looking forward to heading north to teach ecology up in the North woods the next whole month.
One of my favorite things to do in Ann Arbor every Saturday is to peruse the local farmers market. Bustling with people, chocked full of fresh local foods. Arugula to fall apples, fresh eggs to bouquets of flowers...by the seasons as it should be. With spring comes fresh asparagus.
Up close these stalks look sensual, bizarre, alien even. Adventures in vegetable land. I can't wait to throw these guys on the grill. Delicious!
