Looking out

I took this photo early, way early in the day. 2:30 in the morning in fact, from the rooftop of Alex's place in Brooklyn. Looking out on the horizon on this teeming city. The end of a great day and the beginning of another.

New York truly is a city of the world and what I think I liked most about visiting, and reaffirming my experiences long ago as a child is the mindboggling diversity here. People from all over the world are here, a world in miniature. Passing through Italian, Chinese, Dominican, Jewish, Polish neighborhoods. Every people and nationality is represented. And along with all the diversity of people is diversity of food, dress, thought, and expression. Art. Another thing I loved about this city, especially Brooklyn. Creative expression everywhere, literally spray painted on the walls. Looking forward to the next excuse to come visit Alex again...

This shot for me represents my friend well. He's new here, an aspiring musician with a world of possibilities he's just figuring out and getting used to in this huge place. Looking out on the horizon. Rock on man!
