Diary of an Edinburgher

Blossom

I ‘forgot’ to go to the gym today. JR did not forget to go for her session. It was a another sunny day, but Jings! It was even colder than it has been of late. That wind is coming straight from Siberia. The difference between the sunny sheltered side and the windy shady side of the road is amazing. The Meadows has NO shelter, but the blossom makes one stop and gaze for a while, forgetting about how cold you are.

Our new upstairs neighbour popped in to say hello. They have not moved in yet (bought the flat in August, hoped to be in by Christmas) and is nowhere near moving in. They’re only now gutting the bathroom and kitchen. He was quite upbeat about it all.

Later we walked across the Meadows and admired the blossom. We were walking into town as JR had spied a nice wee item in Anthropologie yesterday, and so we went to get it. I was lured in with this treat, because it’s pretty far for me nowadays. I was most distressed when our two favourite Milkman cafes were full.

We walked through the Gardens and found a seat on the wall, and JR popped to the nearby Prêt to get coffees and pastries. It would have been quite lovely, but for the freezing breeze! We really should have found a more sheltered place. Mind you, the place was mobbed, and nobody else seemed to be bothered by the chill.

Popped into said shop, saw said item, bought it (it’s a jug - like we really need another jug) and I brought it home on the bus while the others walked home.

We sat outside in the sun in the back garden for a while. Any clouds that came were soon moved on swiftly by the strong wind, though we were really quite sheltered.

Hazel had a busy day - she’s off to the sunshine and warmth tomorrow.

I got an invite for my ‘Spring Covid Booster’!
