Kayaking on the lagoon

Monday February 7
Today we took advantage of the free kayaks available for use at our condo complex, and took out a double kayak on the mangrove lined lagoon which lies between our complex and the beach. When we last did this, two years ago and a bit later in the year, we saw a couple of ospreys, and a bald eagle perched on dead trees right beside the lagoon. Today we weren’t so lucky, though we did see an osprey up on its nest, and several other birds. We followed the lagoon to its end at a mangrove-lined beach. It was still overcast and on the cool side when we set out, and I was wearing my sweatshirt, but as we kayaked the sun came out, and it warmed up, so when we returned we went and sat in the sun by the pool for a while.
