Hello Again

I bought one of the original (USA made) Acoustasonic Telecasters when they first came out in 2019. But I just found it unnecessarily complicated with all the different “voices” you could select. And none of which were actually the tones I was looking for. In the end, I traded it for a more conventional Martin acoustic in June 2020 (which was, in turn, replaced by a Taylor acoustic in June 2021)
But now Fender have brought out a “Player” version of the Acoustasonic Tele which is made in Mexico and is considerably cheaper than the “full fat” USA version. The savings are down to not only where it is made, but a much simpler operating system. 9V battery instead of a rechargeable one. Only two pickups - electric and under saddle - and only 6 voices to choose from. Two electric, two acoustic and a couple that are described as neutral, thus solving the other issue I had previously, which was too much choice! I now have a guitar that - when plugged in - can simulate a dreadnought acoustic or a crunchy electric at the flick of a switch.
The important thing is that the feel, build quality and playability is just as good as the more expensive version - it even comes with the same sturdy gig bag. Within minutes of trying it in the shop this morning, I was hooked. All the items in yesterday’s blip were taken in part exchange and as soon as I handed over the difference, the guitar was mine. I’m looking forward to getting to grips with it over the next few weeks and finding out just how versatile it can be. I may never play it in a live setting, but it will be fun to try and learn a few tunes at home.
The only teensy issue is that it also has a pretty good unplugged sound. Which begs the question, do I need the Taylor acoustic as well? It’s safe for the time being so I can do a leisurely back to back comparison, but I do also have a new bass guitar on order, which is due to arrive in March, so the clock is ticking…
