Time to Say Goodbye

Of the three items in this photo, two were bought on a whim and have never been used in anger. I had this romantic notion of getting a little 5W valve amp that I could use to play at home or possibly at small gigs. I chose the Hughes & Kettner Tubemeister, mainly because it lights up blue when turned on! I think I may have used it once, but it’s basically sat in the loft, unused, for two years. The red Telecaster was very much an impulse buy, based solely on magazine reports and how it looks. Having waited several months for it to arrive, I’m afraid I played it only once before deciding that I didn’t like it as much as my “old faithful” Squier Telecaster Custom. I think the only thing to do is move it on before it too spends a couple of years gathering dust in the loft. The little Behringer PA/Monitor has been used - most memorably as a makeshift bass amp at a Christmas 2020 gig - but hardly at all in the last 12 months. And by getting rid of the amp and the monitor, I can also return a couple of stands that I had borrowed, thus freeing up even more room in the house.
So, where are they all going, I hear you ask. Well, as I’m sure you’ve already guessed, I do like buying guitars, whether I need them or not. And my local guitar shop has a new arrival which they think I might be interested in. So all this lot is heading there tomorrow to act as part exchange fodder. Whilst I will no doubt lose money on each item, I’m hoping there will be sufficient value to get the deal as close to break even as possible. In which case I can totally justify it as it will count as a “swap” rather than a “purchase”. Not that I need to justify it - Mrs C’s recent purchase of a new MacBook Pro means I have a reasonable amount of “credit” to play with!
