Two Tails on a New Bale

I had to start my morning witnessing something that I never like to witness.

I rounded a turn, and there was a deer lying on her side in the middle of the road. She must have just been hit. She was writhing in pain...trying valiantly to get up...without success. It was obvious she wasn't going to make it.

Part of me wanted to get out and hold her head for her last moments. Another part of me wanted to drive ahead...and run over her...to make her misery stop.

I could do neither. My realistic side took hold...knowing I could do nothing. As I drove past her...my heart sank even further...and...I might have even shed a tear. So sad to watch. "WHY CAN'T THEY LEARN HOW TO CROSS THE ROAD?"

After that episode...I had to see some living breathing things. I headed out to do my favorite drive. Horses, herons, sandhill cranes, geese, and piggies. I put just a few on my FLICKR PAGE.

Still have a touch of the stomach flu. Not enough to keep me in...but just enough to let you know it's there. My daughter and Merrick brought us over some chicken soup last night. It was her first venture into making soup. She was SO proud of herself, and the soup was DEEE-LIC-IOUS! ALMOST as good as my own. Thanks...honey.

38 degrees F here. Spring...where art thou?

P.S. What do you think of the green barn? It somehow just seems wrong to me. What's next...orange...purple...pink? BARNS ARE RED!!(except in Kentucky...where they are black.) Barn rant over.
