A Spring Puzzle

Looking away from the 2 pictures of Marilyn the duck...what is the difference between picture A, and picture B? (I'll give you a second or two.)

The answer? The smallest of the sets of icicles (the ones that were on top) gave up their hold on the metal, and took the plunge into the river. I thought I heard them scream..."Woo-Hoo! Doggies...this is cold!"

It reminds me of a trip my Dad and I took in Colorado. We were just east of Aspen. We had been sleeping in the back of my van, and hadn't seen a shower in days. We had the brilliant idea that we would wait until the break of dawn, and get into the small river that ran through our campground. (Don't get ahead of me.)

After a very cold night,we stripped down to our underwear, and hit the stream. I wanted to show Dad the way...sliding off a large rock...and plunging in. I couldn't even say... "Woo-Hoo." I couldn't even say..."Doggies...that's cold." The only thing that came out was ..." AGGGH...AGGGHHH!!" I was finally able to say..."D-D-D-DON'T GET IN!!!"

What were we thinking? Just like these icicles...this water had just come from snow and ice in the higher elevations. The water was barely above freezing. I think it was the 14th dumbest thing I have ever done. (I'm a big one for lists.) It took me hours of running the van heater to warm up.

I was on my way to a neighboring village this morning when my sister-in-law sent me a text. It was a picture of her car dashboard...showing the temperature in Florida to be 86F. (She's nasty like that.) It was 50 degrees warmer than here.

Marilyn the duck was in rare form today. Apparently Chester the duck thought she looked pretty good, too. I spared you the mating picture, but I did put it on my FLICKR PAGE.

I'm just glad ducks can't smoke after-the-act cigarettes. SHEESH!

P.S. (A loving little dig for my sister Lisa Kaye.) "NO MATTER HOW STUPID...THAT'S HOW YOU GET INTO A STREAM! YOUR WHOLE BODY...COMPLETELY UNDER!"
