Sally Mair - Loving life

By Sallymair

Look no hands!

Why does Saturday still feel like a day you should have a lie in on, even when you don't work and can have a lie in any day you like? So I did!
I got up and planted some bulbs which I dug up in the spring. I haven't a clue what they are and have no memory even of where I lifted them from. I think they may be mini daffodils so I've planted them into a couple of bowls for indoors and poked the rest into a few of the pots scattered around the garden. I think I'm losing it! They had started to sprout but hopefully I've caught them in time.
We headed down into Stockbridge, and to follow Hazelh's example I bought something rather nice but I'm not going to tell you what it is today. Suffice to ask why it is that you always buy something big and awkward at the start of a shopping amble!
We popped into Soderberg and picked up some Cardamon and Cinnamon buns before heading off to visit Kathryn, Jon and the girls.
We had a lovely visit Eilidh impressed me by her balancing act (and Kathryn with her strength and ability to support her almost 8 year old daughter). I loved the way Eilidh held herself in place by crossing her ankles.
Eilidh also showed me a video of her violin playing. She had a very good tone and, I'm not biased, but that was a pretty impressive rendition of the first two lines of Twinkle Twinkle Little Star! Just wait till Isobel gets going on her ukulele at Christmas too!
We treated ourselves to an aromatic crispy duck for dinner, always a favourite, then settled down to episode 4 of Shetland, I'm quite enjoying it but not too sure how all the threads are going to come together.
Sad news of the death of a friend's husband today. Very sudden (and not covid) but at least his family had the chance to say goodbye. An empty space which can't be filled.
Keep safe folks, life is too short without taking extra risks.
