Starting early
Both of the local fb sites I belong to have put out messages asking people to shine a light for December. The feeling being that people need their spirits lifted on these cold dark evenings. We normally have a number of community events and light switch on ceremonies which of course won't happen this year as we can't gather in crowds.
When I was out walking this evening I noticed a couple of houses with window decorations up already and this one which has lights in the garden. It certainly does raise the spirits to see the effort some people go to. Winter is long and cold so lighting it up and lifting us at the same time seems a good idea. At least it doesn't involve fireworks and loud bangs!
We had our monthly Edinburgh area Cursillo Ultreya meeting this afternoon. One of the good things to come out of the Pandemic is Zoom. Many of those who joined us live alone so enjoyed the company, no masks either! Zoom hosting also means that people from across the country can join us and today, as well as our Edinburgh Diocese people we had friends from Kirkcudbright, Ayr, Aberdeen and India, 27 screens, a wonderful gathering, lots of smiles and encouragement.
More nonsense from #10 today, if it wasn't that our friend across the pond is even more ridiculous we'd all be in shock at his behaviour. This year really can't end soon enough, bring on the vaccine at least that's a glimmer ahead.
A wee treat to myself arrived today, a fleece I ordered online from Weird Fish, its so fluffy and light and incredibly warm. I can see it being worn out within the season, definitely my favourite purchase for a while!
Extra measures came in for a large part of Scotland at 6 o'clock this evening. No change for us here in Edinburgh, although some places have improvements there are more severe restrictions for others. I'm sorry if you've been affected,. Hopefully though this short, sharp shock will do the trick.
Keep safe everybody, another week of this awful year has gone by.
