Sally Mair - Loving life

By Sallymair

Oil be seeing you!

Sunday morning and damp but bright weather. I headed off to church, it's the annual Census Sunday, being the last day of the old church year. Next Sunday, being the first Sunday of Advent, marks the start of the new church year. Today is also known as Stir Up Sunday, the day when many use the opening lines of the old prayer book collect, as a marker to start making Christmas puddings!
"STIR up, we beseech thee, O Lord, the wills of thy faithful people; that they, plenteously bringing forth the fruit of good works, may of thee be plenteously rewarded; through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen." I'm not 100% convinced that was the original purpose of the prayer, but it's a good marker, giving the puddings plenty of time to mature before the big day!
I took Joyce to the station after lunch, she'll be back next month for Christmas! On the way back I saw some beautiful rainbows in my rear view mirror but there was no chance to stop and take a picture. My blip, therefore, is from the car park at Tesco where the puddles provided me with a reminder that you don't always have to look up to the sky for the promise!
Josie is a bit under the weather today, fingers crossed its not what we fear it might be. Update tomorrow!

The title reminds me of a piece of my yoof! Terry Reilly, A Rainbow in Curved Air - 1968 (which incidentally is where the band Curved Air of "Backstreet Luv" fame got their name from, see comments for that link)
