Diary of an Edinburgher

By LadyMarchmont

Another win (just)…

I spent half an hour before I got up listening to the last of my audiobook. Though I do like to be immersed in a book, listening to one means that I can’t browse the papers, watch tv or check emails - because my mind drifts off and I’ve no clue what I’ve just listened to, and have to go back a bit. So it’s good to just listen to the radio, music, or a podcast, when I can multi-task. I’ll have a wee break from audiobooks, and then go back to one. An audiobook is very good for long walks, er, which I don’t actually do… There are loads of free books on Audible.

When JR came back from the gym, I took Archie round to the graveyard. It was such a lovely sunny day. We were heading out for lunch later, so he was staying home with his bone. But he got a longer walk in the afternoon, when JR went down to her favourite shop to return an item. It’s great that dogs are allowed there now, and he’s SO good in the shop, always gets comments from people, saying ‘I couldn’t bring my dog shopping!’

We popped down to Argyle Place again - I needed to check a booking I’d made for later in the month, and hadn’t received confirmation. Turns out, their booking system is faulty. We had a delicious lunch, once again, and at under £30 (coffees and choccie brownie included), it’s very good value.

When the others were out, I watched the Scotland/Australia rugby match. A close game, but we just edged it. Well done The Boys! Then I caught the end of the women’s rugby (England/NZ) but that was a runaway victory for the Red Roses.

I’m now watching football (sound off), reading the Sunday papers and blipping. Multi-tasking!

Covid boosters tomorrow.
