Diary of an Edinburgher

Fun for all

Hazel and I were finalising the 5* holiday this morning - texting to and fro. We’d always intended going by Eurostar - we’ve been in the glorious St Pancras Station so often and looked enviously at the people having a champagne at the bar before setting off. But that would mean train from here too, which would mean a journey taking most of the day. We suddenly twigged that we should fly. Direct. Be at our destination for morning coffee. No contest! And so it’s all booked! I then felt I could be lazy for the rest of the day. Well, there are five rugby games on! Talk about overkill.

JR, who is not interested in watching rugby, went with Hazel to Mellis’s Cheese Lounge, where you could imagine that you’re in a wee Parisian cafe. They even have French music.

Archie, too, was happy with his day’s arrangements because Elizabeth came to take him out. Luckily, the morning’s rain stopped and the sun came out.

But my afternoon of watching game after game was not entirely unproductive I listened to my audio book with the rugby commentary off. The first two games were so one sided. But I did listen to the Wales/South Africa game.

A most pleasant day for everyone.
