Remembrance 1
Tree Planting & Supermarket Standing
A quick breakfast and out to Trebah Gardens for the first of the Cornwall Royal British Legion 100 Trees planting session. The Lord Lieutenant of Cornwall, Edward Bolitho planted a single Hawthorn tree in front of dignitaries and Veterans, that single tree represents the 100 various types of tree donated that Trebah will plant where appropriate.
Over a cup of coffee I was quizzed by two serving RAF NCO’s regarding the Treliske Veterans Aware group and the ‘Forces Connect’ group within Cornwall. Chatting to them meant I was delayed in getting home to change ready for my six hour stint on the Poppy Stall at Sainsbury’s, Falmouth.
I made it on time but by 7:00pm I was feeling the strain, my ankles were killing me.
The generosity of people towards the Poppy Appeal never ceases to amaze me. Times are tough for some people and desperate for a few but they always find a way to give - truly humbling.
Home to see Mrs S who had enjoyed a day of peace and quiet without me under her feet.
