Another Opening, Another Show

A snatched shot from the side of the stage during last night’s performance - one of the few occasions when I wasn’t either onstage, about to go onstage or getting changed ready for the next scene. This is actually at a pivotal point in the play, just before the star has his big dramatic speech whilst getting soaked from above. Which is not easy to to set up on our small stage! A sprinkler bar up by the lights and a drain cut into the stage directly beneath, means that we can achieve the desired effect without (completely!) flooding the stage.
It was good to be back performing in front of a real audience - though there were inevitably a few cock ups along the way! But initial feedback from those who saw it was positive and they all seemed to have enjoyed it. And we’ve already had a discussion about what tweaks we can make tonight to avoid the mishaps of last night.
The painter has finally moved into the last room of the house to be decorated (the main bedroom). But there is a lot of work to be done in that room so I think we still have another week or so of mess to put up with. And as we are now going to have to sleep in the small bedroom, we had to dismantle and reassemble the bed this morning as that was the only way of getting it into the smaller room! And there’s not a lot of room to move around it now it’s in there. Let’s hope it’s only a very temporary change of sleeping location and we can move back soon.
With not a lot else to be done today - can’t move things back into the kitchen or bathroom as there is a final coat of paint on the woodwork that will need to dry fully overnight - I may well venture back to the gym this afternoon. It’s been a week since I last went so need to get back into it. Other than that, perhaps a quick refresh of the script would be beneficial before venturing out to the theatre tonight!
