Our Day in Photos

Overcast with periods of sun and warm. My son called last night with some upsetting news so sleep was out of the question. Prayers for the correct outcome are appreciated. The cardinal showed up last evening soon after I put out some seeds and he’s brought several of his relatives to dine today. They say a cardinal is sent by a loved one to say things will be ok; sure hope so. I have been exhausted all day. After I burned my breakfast, Hubby decided we needed a ride out. We are close to a creek and river in this state park so we explored a bit. A large flock of Canadian geese flew by but I wasn’t positioned to get a great shot. These rangers were canoeing on the river. We visited the exhibit about watermen of the past from Maryland and Virginia actually warring over the oysters. My paternal grandmother’s family lived near here (in Va) and my paternal grandfather’s family lived on the other side of the Potomac River in Md. They both had stories to tell about the oyster wars. No one won because they all but depleted the oyster beds; same with the blue crab population. Greed will destroy a man and his life. There are farm fields in the park as well. I was fascinated watching this huge machine mow down corn stalks. There are ferocious hornets here (one is outside my screen house as I type) so we went to town for spray. We found a wonderful lunch at a place voted best burger in Va in 2018. Their grilled mahi mahi was scrumptious. We walked around the town (Kilmarnock) and these beautiful old fashioned roses caught my eye. Had we not been so full, we’d have enjoyed coffee and ice cream at this attractive shop. Loved their yard art. Long story but wanted to share our sightings. My quote was on the wall at “NN Burger” and I must say, I agree. Thanks for dropping by. Stay safe. “I like this place and willingly could waste my time in it.” - Shakespeare
