Sally Mair - Loving life

By Sallymair

Sometimes you just have to!

They sent me a voucher for a free one and it would have been rude not to! I had a strawberry and cream, it was delicious.
Church this morning. With our Rector and vestry's approval, I've organised a collection for a hospital in India. It was announced today and we have over £300 already - people are very kind. There is a lockdown in Tamil Nadu now, people are only allowed out to shop for food and shops are only open between 6 and 10am. My auto driver friend has a temp job in a veg shop, which is good as otherwise he would have no income as he is not allowed to drive his auto. Another friend does everything online. The vaccine is available and free of charge, but as here, more people need to have it in order for it to make a difference. I heard today that my friend has recovered so one piece of good news, but she now has to come to terms with suddenly becoming a widow.
I spent the afternoon mainly in the garden, transplanting bedding and sanding down and varnishing a table and bench.
I popped out to B&Q for more varnish and came across the doughnut emporium. Why do freebies always taste better? When I went to hand over my voucher the man behind the counter said, no its OK, keep that and use it another day..... the gift which keeps on giving.
Keep safe everybody, I'm having at least one hug tomorrow, can't wait!
