WITH A SONG IN MY HEART

Canal Business

There are quite a few small businesses on narrowboats and I have seen all of the following on our travels -  Rope Works (making boat fenders), Woodwork, Composting Loo makers, Canal Art pots and pans, Cafes, Ice Cream Shop, Holistic Treatments and these two pictured, which I saw today. The red one is a Blacksmith and the blue one a Plant Nursery.

Talking of plants - I have bought quite a few recently and it got me thinking about when I was a girl. My Mum always had a gorgeous, colourful front garden and the back was mainly lawn and veg.
I don't remember there being garden centres back then. She must have grown everything from seed. I do remember Mum nipping bits off other people's plants if they were near the roadside and swapping with friends. She really had green fingers which is where I get it from and Sabrina too.

I took Bella May for her morning walk along the canal towards Gargrave as Frank had to go back to Hellifield to collect his prescription. Then this afternoon we both walked her into Skipton as I had a parcel to post, and we wanted to buy some beer - yay it's Friday! :-D
We also went the Fent Fabric shop and I found what I was looking for - some khaki green cotton fabric to make me some wide leg elastic waist trousers. I think that colour looks great with black and a colourful scarf or necklace.

Sabrina sent me videos of Amelia doing her skating routine for the competition in July in Sheffield. She's doing amazingly well and doing jumps and twirls so smoothly now.
Sabrina is just worried that with the Covid variants there could be local lockdowns. Her 1st competition was cancelled last year after she spent months practicing for it and the dress that was made specially was too small for this year so she's had to have it altered - which adds to the cost. Luckily the lady was able to sew a band in at the waist to lengthen it.

I'm having an apperitif now - a can of Hobgoblin before tea - Butternut Squash and Sweet Potato Korma (a Bosh Book recipe)
Thanks all the comnents, stars and faves, I really do appreciate them :-) X

I just had to edit as when I read back it said sweary potatoes! :-D))
