Frozen

Today's images were taken on another winter walk - this time through the small valley between Aylesford and our neighbouring village of Eccles. Parts of it used to be an industrial sight but this has long gone and a path now winds it's way between the trees and areas of marshy ground. The snow was still on the ground and a cold easterly wind was blowing but we were somewhat protected by the surrounding trees. As we continued further along the path we could see that most of the marshy areas were now flooded and the water had frozen solid. Several birds did try to land on what they assumed would be water but were looking nonplussed when they hit the hard icy surface.
As we came out of the valley and back on to open farmland to head back home we felt the full force of that easterly wind and there was a sudden sideways snow shower. By the time we got back home the wind had dropped and there was even a brief glimpse of sun but it had been great to be out in the cold and bracing winter air.
