A Whole New Language

Today's image looks like part of a vintage manuscript but it's actually a tea towel that fell out of a cupboard in our kitchen when I was trying to get a roasting tin out. Blip does take you on some odd journeys!
I love the title at the top - Pure Glesga Patter by the way - A Comprehensive Guide For Making Conversation in Glasgow and the West Of Scotland.
Unfortunately my lens hasn't quite been able to capture all of the explanations or meanings under the phrases and sayings to I've listed a few of my favourites below:

Howzitgauncheif? - How are things with you this find day?

Goany pirrit inapoke - Please place my goods in a carrier bag

Dae ye think ah'm buttoned up the back? - Do you take me for a fool?

Ah'm gonna malky ye, ya bam - I will headbutt you, you fool

Stoatin off the grun so it is - The rain is torrential and bouncing off the ground

Gonnae gin that clown a dunt - Please rouse my husband from his slumber

Geezabrekwidye - I am rapidly running out of patience

Yiv goat a face like a well-skelpt erse! - You are looking rather red in the face

If ah dinnae see ye through the week ah'll see ya through the windae - I will see you again soon
