Diary of an Edinburgher

By LadyMarchmont

Quite a lot of snow this morning! JR was out right away to clear our path and the pavement.

I wasn’t too keen to go out in the slush, but was persuaded to accompany JR and Archie to the Post Office. I was needed to keep a hold of Archie, as he’s not allowed in the PO. But the going was SO SLOW, as the pavements were sloppy, slushy and snowy. By the time we got to the end of the road, I’d decided that it was best not to go much further - I’d still be going by the time it was dark. So JR went off, and Archie and I came round to the Links. I hadn’t intended going in, but the snow was still thick and fluffy amd quite appealing (to both of us).

Archie rushed around, rubbing his beard in the snow, and piddling on every single snowman (and there were quite a lot). We spotted this great big Coronavirus, a modern version of a snowman. After throwing snowballs for/at Archie, my hand got frostbite, so we came home, this time it was easier because we walked in the middle of the road.

Our coffee delivery arrived today. It was sent on the 6th, but every time a date was set, they’d email and put it off another day. They are sending a couple of bonus boxes to make up for this inconvenience.

We had a surprise visit from Jordan and Isobel. They were out for a walk, and waved in from the gate. Isobel refuses to wear a hat and gloves, so can’t stay out for too long in this weather.

JR has done two online exercise sessions today (she’s doing a Pilates one as we speak). I did my bike while watching ‘The Secret Windrush Files’, presented by the wonderful David Olusoga. A shameful - and current - part of our history.
