Diary of an Edinburgher

A tragic loss!

Wee Archie’s stomach was gurgling and making very weird noises at 4.50am. He got up and rushed off the bed and had a vigorous shake down. Then he came back and settled down again. More weird noises. Off he went again. I could hear his stomach when he was away out in the hall! He did this four times. By 6am he rushed off but this time he went to the back door. I let him out and he chewed on some grass. We both then came in and settled on the sofa and watched tennis. He’s been fine today. But I went back to bed at 8 o’clock for an hour or so…

Elizabeth came today to take Archie out - she’s away for the weekend. And so we had arranged to go out for lunch with Hazel. I took the bus down town while the others walked. I had a wee walk through the Gardens - it was such a beautiful crispy blue skied day.

Our destination was a new restaurant in Princes Street - Bar & Block, which is a nationwide chain. It specialises in steaks, but has a huge menu. And I am pleased to report that the steaks (with triple cooked chips) were excellent. We were all very impressed.

After our delicious lunch, the others went shopping, and I came home. I went to get a bus… only to discover that my bus pass was missing. I’d lost it!! I went back to the restaurant, but no luck. And so I started to walk home. Too far. So I grudgingly paid a bus fare. Haven’t had to do that for ten years or so... That hurt. I will have to get hold of replacement pass toute suite.
