Diary of an Edinburgher

By LadyMarchmont

More cycling this morning - I’m really impressing myself! I mentioned to JR that it was a nice day for a walk around Arthur’s Seat. I meant just her and Archie, but I was persuaded to come too - but just far enough to get a photo, then I came home.

Drats! I just missed a bus, and the next one was in 15 minutes - too long to sit around and get cold, so I walked all the way back home! I was STUFFED! I could barely make it in the door, and didn’t even make a wee detour to shop to get some chocolate. I could only lie on the sofa for about an hour, before getting the energy up to get a cuppa. (10,874 steps) That was definitely TOO FAR for me. I will be very stiff tomorrow, so I’ll need to take it easy.

But JR went further, much further, than intended. The road at the top, by Dunsapie Loch - no otter seen (Extra) - was blocked, and she had to come back round the same way, which is much further! (17,806 steps). And she realised that her favourite Dubarry boots, which are great for most dog walks, aren’t ideal for such a long one No, she says it was the wrong socks! She has a blister, and thought about ringing me to come and pick her up in the car. Archie, after his bath, has been flat out on JR’s lap, snoring. Though he regularly does very long walks with Elizabeth, so he’s used to it.

So, good thinking this morning when JR chucked a few things in the slow cooker, and there was a very nice smell greeting us when we came home.
