Let it Snow, Let it Snow, Let it Snow

More like “Let it Sleet”, if I’m being honest. Original forecast was for snow all day, but in the end it only got heavy enough for anything to properly stick for a couple of hours around lunchtime.
Thought I’d grab a quick shot of the snow (slush!) on Mrs C’s car in case nothing else “blipworthy” presented itself, and was quite surprised to see the blackbird suddenly appear. It seemed quite happy sitting there while I clicked away but when I looked more closely at the photos, I noticed it was only on one leg. Wondered if it was just cold, but an alternative explanation offered itself when I looked at the bonnet of my car later on - a series of bird footprints which culminated in a couple of skid marks near the edge. Possibly it hurt something in its leg when it slipped off so flew on to the nearby wall to recover for a bit? Might explain why it didn’t immediately fly off while I was out taking photographs. Who knows, but it obviously recovered as it had disappeared after a minute or so.
We must have been right on the snow line today as when we went for a short walk later on, there was absolutely nothing on the pavements once we’d dropped down to the next road. Conversely, coming back from the walk on the next road up there was a lot more slush than on our road. Amazing what a difference a few feet either way can make.
Supposed to be cold and dry tomorrow so maybe there will be a chance for a slightly longer walk than we’ve managed over the last two days. I certainly hope so because the forecast for next week is not at all promising!
