The best millionares shortbread

This in extremely indulgent as it uses quite a few dates, honey and cacao butter - heck, that's what sweets are all about, right?

I'm usually put off by the effort of layering food, but it is a very appealing technique. As I had industriously scrubbed the bathroom clean, I thought I'd reward myself with a equally painstaking kitchen session.

The gorgeous smell of the melting cacao butter, with its almost pine-wood resin whiff, was concentrated by the warm afternoon sunshine that flooded the flat today. I shall no doubt dream of this. Funny how I've never taken note of this before.

The shortbread base is made with buckwheaties, the caramel layer is mostly dates and almonds, and the chocolate topping is cashew nut butter and cacao powder.

Thank you, Caramelia Cakery, for the recipe. It is so rich there is no chance of over-eating, and enough to last me a good fortnight. I probably should go out for a walk now.
