Lull before the storm

For once the weather was far better in the north as Storm Alex lashed the south with high winds and heavy rain. By contrast our beach was bathed in sunshine and not a breath of wind. The waves, today were from the bow of a large container ship heading for Grangemouth docks.
At the end of our walk we negotiated a busy lunchtime prom : all the local schools finish at midday on a Friday. Many of their parents finish then too so the road traffic is far lighter on a Friday afternoon. That was fortunate as I had to drive into town after lunch through the university quarter where many students were out and about enjoying their late summer socialising. I don’t blame them.
