WITH A SONG IN MY HEART

A Grand Day Out...

...well just a morning out.
It's sunny today so we set off just before 9 am and went for a drive and took a picnic. We ended up at Halton Gill where we parked up and went for a walk to Foxup.
As we went past a house a gorgeous little collie dog (9 months old) came bounding towards us, the lady owner was outside and we admired each other's dogs, then she said we could take her dog Sue with us on our walk. Her other dog was looking through the cat flap and not allowed out as he could be aggressive.  Sue trotted along beside Bella, copying everything she did eg peeing and eating grass. She had really good recall - she's already a working sheep dog. (Extras)
We then went past a house with another unfriendly dog and the lady shut him in and on the way back she and her husband - Jan and John - came out for a chat. Jan said they actually live in Barnsley where she is an Ambulance Person. They are doing a barn conversion to let out (the building in the extra) She said I could help myself to a bunch of Alstroemeria after I had admired them.
After our walk we delivered Sue back to her - very trusting - owner, had our coffee and snacks then drove over the moors towards Settle.
We stopped off at the disused Lime Kilns in Langcliffe. A really interesting place that is still considerably intact (extra)and we walked inside and up the track where the wagons were previously hauled up by steel cables. https://www.yorkshire-dales.com/hoffman-kiln.html
I never knew that the chemical - lime - was used in Sugar and Chocolate production. Not sure how.

We're home now, it's still sunny but a cold wind.
I'm going to be knitting while I listen to Boris's statement.
The rises in Covid everywhere are very worrying :-/

Follow the rules and stay safe ;-) X
