Walkies? No thanks.
What a day! It rained and rained and rained. Mind you, there are floods in other parts of the country, so can’t complain. But I will. It’s been a rather wet August, so I think we deserve a nice September. Still - not many tourists to worry about.
I went to take Archie for his round-the-block walk, and he just sat at the door a looked out. No way! I dragged him as far as the corner, but he sat down under the hedge and looked completely miserable, so we came home. No toileting action occurred. He did pop out to the back garden a couple of times, and when the rain went off for a while around 5pm, he had a proper go.
We briefly considered going somewhere local for lunch, but then couldn’t be bothered. We both set about rare domestic tasks - I made scones, while JR got her sewing machine out and altered a few items.
I also watched the McTaggart Lecture. This is a yearly highlight of the Edinburgh Television Festival. They always have illustrious speakers, and this year it was the wonderful David Olusoga.
JR eventually succeeded in filling in the online form to renew her NZ passport, which has been on-going for a few days, and there is a time limit once the process is started. It has been fraught, and at the final hurdle, filling in the reference number they gave her, it kept refusing it. It was something like O0000764879. Which is very confusing. A capital O is very like a zero, and she hadn’t noticed the slight difference. I helped her just before steam came out of her ears and she collapsed in a weeping heap.
Doggy day care tomorrow. I see the rain is moving off - there would be no point sending him on a wet day - he would just have to shelter on the leather sofas, and there might be some big dogs who claim the best seats, and he’d have to sit in a draughty corner... we couldn’t do that to him.
