Fly by, day 4 hibernation, day 1 Lock down
Well the first day of Lock Down was different to what I expect, maybe it’s because I have a different idea of what is essential and again I think it was confusing as shops did not know whether to open or not.All our little cafes that had been offering a take away or delivery service have decided to close. Harry Gows was open until the end of the day. Some larger chain garden centres are open, eg Dobbies where our neighbour works, B&Q have been told they can open but have closed stores to rearrange before opening again , although I feel they would rather not.Building work is still going on at the new Care Centre which is fine as it needs to be made water tight and everyone was keeping their distance.
We were unsure if we were ‘allowed‘ to drive anywhere so when the ‘man’ on the tv said it was fine to drive somewhere to take your permitted hour of exercise we jumped in the car. I had two ideas of where we could walk but both had several cars parked up so decided not to.We stopped at the RSBP reserve and was surprised to see that the hide was still open.A poster on the door was flapping around and had nearly blown off so Mike went out , with his gloves on and fixed it, it said to make sure that if entering you sat apart, I should think a new one is up now as all their sites are now closed, not sure how they will stop people going up the Fairy Glen though.
Newspapers were still printed, the bins collected although brown bin collection has been suspended and the recycling centres closed. We can go to the allotment for now and still the tubes in London are jammed packed with people and eventually staff are being supplied with gowns and masks !
