Socially Distant
My Dear Princess and Dear Fellows,
Loulou popped around to mow our lawns again. She doesn't need to do this sort of thing, but I think she enjoyed coming around and making herself useful.
We sat out in our garden afterward at the regulation 2 metres distance and chatted. She told us that when she was out the front of our place two of our neighbours came over to ask if she could do theirs too.
"It's good to know I have a fall-back employment option," she told us.
We shared some of the horror stories we have heard about families stranded and/or separated by this thing, but it was a lovely day and Jasper came out on his leash to lift our spirits.
And then we posed for socially-distant hugs. That's me on the left.
At midnight New Zealand went into full-on lockdown. You can see the emergency text that came around in the extras. It scared the cats, because emergency texts are accompanied by the most godawful noise.
In fact, Jacinda Ardern delivered an informal chat on Facebook after this and apologised for "the honk", which amused me. I love an inadvertent fart joke. But I was very impressed with her. Her message was clear and sobering but also kind and reassuring. Even if some of it is Kiwi-specific, I'd recommend you have a listen. I know I felt better after hearing her.
