Cake success
We have new neighbours above us. For the past three years we've had four young ladies, and they were pretty good. But now we have four chaps. Men are much noisier - they seem to stomp around constantly and have very loud voices. I popped up to ask them not to slam bedroom doors (they all have those closing mechanisms on them) and to be aware of the noise when eg, wrestling around on the floor (hotly denied). They countered that our dog 'barks all the time'... patently NOT true. Anyway, I don’t want things to escalate, and so the carrot cake yesterday was given to them as a 'peace offering'. I think it might have worked - this afternoon a couple of the lads came to let us know they were having dinner for a few friends, it might be noisy, but it wouldn’t be all evening. We parted on good terms. They even patted Archie, who had stopped barking at them. Actually, there's a (lovely) family upstairs, with three young girls, and they make such a racket, I think the students might be the lesser of two evils. Also, they won’t be there forever.
Libby is back in town for the new academic year, and so she was hoping to come and renew her acquaintance with Archie, but she sent a screenshot of the weather showing rain and clouds all morning. But looking out the window, it was sunny. And so we went for a dander down to the cafe, then Archie and JR went for a run in the Meadows. Not a drop of rain. We popped in to see Rufus and his mum on the way home.
We've arranged to try another dog sitter next week. And we've booked Fiona and Mylo for a few days next month, while we go off on a jaunt.
Archie was in one of his pestering moods, coming and standing right by my bike, making pedalling difficult. Not that he slowed me down any, mind you. He then draped himself across my book this afternoon. (Extra) Got to love him!
